Press conference 12/09: Turanza T005 and Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
Please join us at the press conference on the Bridgestone stand at 12 noon on 12th September. Paolo Ferrari, CEO and President of Bridgestone EMEA, will tell you in his own words why Turanza T005 takes touring tyre standards to a new high.
During this press conference, you will also hear more about the exciting up-coming Bridgestone World Solar Challenge featuring Ecopia tyres with ologic technology. You will also be able to have a close-up look at a solar car made by Bochum University (Germany), one of the competitors in the 2017 edition of this solar race in October.
Bridgestone’s revolutionary ologic technology delivers outstanding fuel efficiency without compromising grip safety. The larger diameter of the tyre reduces rolling resistance while the narrower tread width cuts down air resistance, resulting in lower fuel consumption and associated carbon emissions.
• Bridgestone recognised with Volkswagen Group Award for Innovation & Technology
• Only tyre company to receive the prestigious award at the ceremony in Berlin
• Paolo Ferrari, CEO & President: “…together, with partners like the Volkswagen Group we can stay ahead of the technology curve”
On June 28th at the 15th edition of the Volkswagen Group Awards, Bridgestone proudly received a Volkswagen Group Award in the category of Innovation & Technology. Globally, just seven VW Group suppliers were beneficiaries of this award.
The Volkswagen Group Award presented by Matthias Müller, CEO of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Group Board of Management member with responsibility for Procurement, was received by Paolo Ferrari, CEO & President of Bridgestone EMEA.
At the award ceremony Garcia Sanz praised all the winners saying: “On behalf of the Volkswagen Group, I would like to thank you and especially your employees for your commitment and performance last year”.
Müller underlined that e-mobility and battery technology, autonomous driving, digitalization throughout the value chain, and new mobility services are not passing trends: “That is the future of our industry – our common future. Thank you for your willingness to explore new pathways with us.”
Commenting on receipt of the award, Paolo Ferrari said: “Bridgestone teams worldwide are honoured by this prestigious award for Innovation & Technology. Innovation is about change and every change that demands a significant technology upgrade is for us, leaders in the industry, an opportunity - so we are going to ride this wave, anticipate this wave, and together with partners like the Volkswagen Group we can stay ahead of the technology curve.”
Bridgestone is also a proud member of the FAST initiative. The Volkswagen FAST initiative was started in 2015, and recognises a small circle of selected suppliers. A strategic dialogue provides these suppliers with regular access to top decision-makers in the VW Group, allowing all parties to implement innovations more efficiently and, above all, faster. Bridgestone is the only tyre company in the select list of 55 suppliers.

Firestone is aiming to shake up the mid-price tyre segment in Europe with the launch of Roadhawk, a tyre built to perform longer and offer drivers best in class wet grip and best in class dry braking.
Roadhawk targets mainstream motorists who drive all types of journeys – urban, highway, commute, school run, shopping – on a daily basis. These drivers want a tyre that gives them long-lasting performance in road conditions where wet weather, heavy traffic, sudden braking and motorway speed are all part of the daily mix. In short, a tyre they can always count on.
Thierry Jupsin, Director of Brands Marketing, Bridgestone Europe explains: “Firestone has been producing quality tyres for more than 100 years; we understand what tyres have to go through and we listen to what drivers want. This new Roadhawk is designed to give everyday drivers a high level of safety and long-lasting performance, whatever the conditions.”
New Firestone Roadhawk has been tested and proven by TÜV SÜD, the largest independent institute for tyre and wheel technology in Europe, and has received the coveted TÜV SÜD Certification Mark.
